Add an area

Areas organize and subdivide a distributed network application into logical or physical divisions. Example: Create areas for different processes within a manufacturing facility. To use multiple HMI servers in a single application, create a new area for each HMI server.
Areas can be created within existing areas. Areas are not supported in local applications.
Prerequisites
Adding areas requires these permissions:
  • Common > Create Children
  • Common > List Children
  • Common > Read
To add an area
  1. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
    , expand the
    Network
     tree.
  2. Right-click the application or area, and then select
    New Area
    .
  3. Type a name and optional description for the area, and then select
    OK
    .
