Install the RSSecurity Emulator
For products that do not support
FactoryTalk Security
, the RSSecurity Emulator allows you to configure users, groups, security permissions, and so on, in one place, and then share those settings among the client software products. This means you do not have to maintain your RSSecurity and FactoryTalk Security
systems separately. To use the RSSecurity Emulator, install it on every computer where RSSecurity client products are installed. Once installed, you do not have to do anything to make the RSSecurity Emulator run. However, in order for the computers to access the
FactoryTalk
system, you must point the existing RSSecurity client computers at the computer where the FactoryTalk
Network Directory Server is running.
TIP:
- RSSecurity Emulator allowsFactoryTalk Securityto emulate an RSSecurity Server and allows existing RSSecurity Server clients to accessFactoryTalk Security. Uninstall the RSSecurity Server software before installing the RSSecurity Emulator.
- The RSSecurity Emulator does not provide all of the features of RSSecurity Server. Some RSSecurity Server clients, such asRSLogix 5, already supportFactoryTalk Security, eliminating the need for installing the RSSecurity Emulator.
