Explorer

Upon opening FactoryTalk Administration Console, the
Explorer
is docked on the leftmost side of the main window. The
Explorer
shows the contents of the
FactoryTalk
network directory or
FactoryTalk
local directory in a tree view.
Select
View > Explorer Window
to show or hide this window.
To work with the options available for any item in the
Explorer
, expand the tree and right-click the item to open a context menu. The
FactoryTalk Directory
icon appears at the top of the tree, followed by the
FactoryTalk
application folders and the
System
folder.
An application folder contains the editors and components for developing an application and may optionally contain areas that group together application resources such as data servers, HMI servers, and device servers. If using
FactoryTalk Administration Console
to create and manage applications, all applications that are contained in the
FactoryTalk Directory
are listed in the
Explorer
.
The
System
folder contains a list of users, computers, and group accounts, passwords, system-wide policy settings, and system-wide security settings. All items in the
System
folder apply to every application in the
FactoryTalk Directory
.
