Overview

This course covers the fundamentals of units of measurement and their applications, with a focus on pressure and its measurement in power plants.  The course will cover the difference between gauge and absolute pressure and how to convert between units of pressure. Students will also be provided information about areas in power plants where negative pressure and backpressure are used, as well as the operation of a manometer and the meaning of head. Additionally, the course will cover the meanings of balanced draft, forced draft, and induced draft and how differential pressure causes fluid flow.
