View error messages for a graphic element

A graphic element or group of graphic elements in error is outlined in red and has an
Error
icon Icon: Runtime Error button. An
Error
icon Icon: Runtime Error button appears for 10 seconds for any graphic element that has an event with a command that is in error. Select this icon to open an
Error list
with the diagnostic messages associated with a graphic element in error.
If an error occurs for any property of a graphic element, the properties that set position, size, and angle freeze. When the properties of the graphic element are no longer in error, the last written values for the position, size, and angle properties apply to the graphic element.
To view diagnostic messages for a graphic element in error
  1. Select the
    Error
    icon Icon: Runtime Error button on the graphic element or tab
    to highlight the icon and press
    Enter
    . The
    Error list
    opens.
  2. View the errors and diagnostic messages for the graphic element:

    • Swipe vertically or select the
      Down Arrow
      and
      Up Arrow
      at the bottom and top of the
      Error list
      to scroll the error messages.
    • Using an external keyboard, press the
      Down Arrow
      and
      Up Arrow
      keys to scroll to the next and previous line of error messages.
    • Using the physical keypad, press
      Page Down
      Icon: TerminalPageDownButton and
      Page Up
      Icon: TerminalPageUpButton to scroll to the next page of error messages.
    • Press
      Home
      Icon: TerminalHomeButton and
      End
      Icon: TerminalEndButton to go to first or last line of the error messages.
    Next graphic element in a group of graphic elements in error
    • Swipe horizontally from right to left, or select the
      Right Arrow
      in the lower right corner of the
      Error list
      . The diagnostic messages for the next graphic element in error appear in the
      Error list
      .
    • Using the physical keypad on the HMI device or an external keyboard, press
      Tab
      Icon: TerminalTabKey to highlight the button and press
      Enter
      .
    • Using the physical keypad on the HMI device or an external keyboard, press the
      Right Arrow
      key.
    Previous graphic element in a group of graphic elements in error
    • Swipe horizontally from left to right, or select the
      Left Arrow
      in the lower right corner of the
      Error list
      . The diagnostic messages for the previous graphic element in error appear in the
      Error list
      .
    • Using the physical keypad on the HMI device or an external keyboard, press
      Tab
      Icon: TerminalTabKey to highlight the button and press
      Enter
      .
    • Using the physical keypad on the HMI device or an external keyboard, press the
      Left Arrow
      key.
  3. To close the
    Error list
    , select
    Close
    Close button in Designer. Using the physical keypad on the HMI device or an external keyboard, press
    Esc
    .
    TIP:
    Closing the
    Error list
    makes the
    Error
    icon Icon: Runtime Error button disappear.
