Trigger action to interact with a screen
Trigger actions manually when pressing or releasing a configured HMI device screen, popup, graphic element, button, or a key on the HMI device keypad or an external keyboard. A graphic element transitioning into or out of a state may trigger an event automatically. Items can only trigger actions when configured to do so in

- Press or release a configured screen, popup, graphic element, or button on the screen. If keys are configured to trigger an action, press or release a configured key or key combination on an external keyboard.Depending on the configuration of an event inStudio 5000View Designer, focus may not be required for the event to trigger. For example, an event may occur even if the graphic element does not have focus when the event triggers. AKey PressorKey Releaseevent that does not require focus triggers when pressing or releasing the key, regardless of where focus is on the screen. If the graphic element requires focus to perform a configured event, pressTabto highlight the graphic element. The graphic element appears highlighted in blue.TIP:Tips:
- The configuration of aTouch Releaseevent may always perform a command. The event occurs even when sliding a finger off the graphic element before releasing the graphic element, when the graphic element becomes disabled or invisible, or when screen navigation opens a different screen. ATouch Releaseevent for a graphic element that is a momentary push button may always release to start a conveyor belt when pressed, and stop a conveyor belt when released.
- For graphic elements configured to behave as a button, the button behavior may trigger when pressing a key. Touching graphic elements configured to behave as a button still triggers the action. If a graphic element has only aKey Pressevent, no event triggers when touching the graphic element.
