Select a graphic element

Touch a graphic element to select it or use the HMI device keypad or an external keyboard. Placing focus on a graphic element using the HMI device keypad or an external keyboard places a highlighted rectangle around the graphic element.
Touching a graphic element or selecting a graphic element with an external keyboard and pressing
Enter
may trigger an event. To learn configured events, contact the HMI Designer.
To select a graphic element
  • Select the desired graphic element on a screen, popup, or
    System Banner
    . Any configured event for the graphic element triggers.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • If a graphic element in error appears off or near an edge of the screen, an arrow with an
      Error
      icon Icon: Runtime Error icon off the edge of the screen points in the direction of the graphic element. Select the arrow to open the
      Error list
      for the graphic element.
    • To select a graphic element using the HMI keypad or an external keyboard, select or press
      Tab
      or
      Back Tab
      and then select or press
      Enter
      .
    • Using an external keyboard, press
      Shift+Tab
      to back tab.
    • If selecting
      Tab
      or
      Back Tab
      does not select a graphic element, it highlights the first or last item on the screen that accepts focus.
    • If an item in the
      System Banner
      is highlighted, selecting
      Tab
      or
      Back Tab
      highlights the next or previous selectable item in the
      System Banner
      .
    • Tabbing and back tabbing highlights graphic elements on the screen and the
      System Banner
      .
    • Tabbing and back tabbing within a popup highlights graphic elements within the popup only.
