Shortcut customization

A shortcut is a link to a screen that displays the same content as the screen.
Customize a shortcut to create similar versions of a screen without recreating screens individually. To change the appearance and tag values in a shortcut, create property definitions for the defining screen and its contents in the
Property Definition
tab at the bottom of the defining screen. Aliased properties appear for each shortcut created for the screen. Change the values of the properties passed from the shortcut to the screen. This customizes the shortcuts of a screen.
For example, assume a plant has 10 bottling lines. On the HMI device, you want to see production details for each line. You do not have to create 10 physical screens and bind tags for each line. Create one screen with property definitions. These properties then exist for each shortcut you create for the screen. Create 10 shortcuts and change the properties for each shortcut. For example, Shortcut 1 can pass the screen parameters for bottling line 1, and Shortcut 2 can pass the screen parameters for bottling line 2.
Edit only the defined properties for a shortcut. To add or delete elements, or to change the properties of graphic elements on the screen, edit the screen that defines the shortcut. Any changes made to the defining screen are automatically reflected in the shortcuts of the screen.
Shortcuts appear in the
Navigation Menu
folder of the
Project Explorer
. Shortcuts also appear as items in the
Navigation menu
on the HMI device. Press the item on the
Navigation menu
of the HMI device to access a shortcut.
Rockwell Automation
recommends a maximum of 200 shortcuts per project.
Shortcuts cannot have events or animations. The
Properties
window does not display the
Events
tab or the
Animations
tab for an open shortcut or a shortcut selected in the
Project Explorer
.
