Move a group or an individual element
Move a group by using a mouse, a keyboard, or by changing its properties.
- Select a group or an element on the screen or in the Graphic Explorer.
- By mouse:
- Drag and drop the group or an element in a desired location
- By keyboard:
- Use the arrow keys to move the object to a desired position.Tips:
- To move the group 1 pixel, press an arrow key in the preferred direction.
- To move the group 10 pixels at a time, pressShift+ an arrow key.
- By changing properties:
- On thePropertiestab, expand thePosition and Sizecategory
- Enter any positive number in the X and y properties:
- X. Specifies the horizontal coordinate, in pixels, from the upper left corner of screen to the upper left corner of a graphic element or group with no rotation. If the graphic element or group is rotated, the X property value does not change.
- Y. Specifies the vertical coordinate, in pixels, from the upper left corner of screen to the upper left corner of a graphic element or group with no rotation. If the graphic element or group is rotated, the Y property value does not change.Tips:The green lines that appear when you move a group using the mouse are called Smart Guides. Use Smart Guides to help position a group on the screen with precision. Smart Guides do not appear when you use the keyboard or the X and Y properties to move a group.
