Copy a graphic element

Copy a graphic element to reuse it on screens within a project or across
View Designer
projects. Copying a graphic element copies all of its properties, animations, and events. Copy single, multiple, or groups of graphic elements.
Prerequisites
  • Open the source
    View Designer
    project containing the content to copy.
  • If the content is to be pasted into another project, for each project, start an instance of
    View Designer
    and open the target project. It is recommended to open no more than three instances of
    View Designer
    at one time.
To copy a graphic element
  1. On the source screen or in the
    Graphic Explorer
    , right-click the graphic element and then select
    Copy
    .
    • To select multiple graphic elements or groups, hold
      Ctrl
      and select the items.
  2. On the target screen, right-click the location to paste the items and then select
    Paste
    .
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • If the target screen contains a graphic element with the same name, the name of the new graphic element is appended with a number that increments with each copy.
    • To cut a graphic element, right-click the graphic element and select
      Cut
      .
    • When copying a graphic element, any localized data associated with the graphic element is also copied.
