Hot Key Settings
The check boxes in this frame disable the specified key combinations while DeskLock is running. If DeskLock is closed, or if the
DeskLock Setup
dialog box is opened, the key combinations will be enabled.
These settings can also be changed through the
HotKey
control button in graphic displays, or through VBA code. When the
Behavior
tab is first opened, the state of the check boxes reflects the existing settings. If a check box is cleared, both the last setting in DeskLock and the current runtime setting are set to enabled. If a check box is selected, both the last Desklock setting and the current runtime setting are set to disabled. If a check box appears grayed and selected, the last DeskLock setting was enabled, but that key combination has been disabled from outside this tab, probably through a control button. Click a grayed box once to select the check box, and twice to clear it.
When the
OK
button is pressed, if a checkbox is selected, or grayed and selected, the key combination will be disabled. If the check box is cleared, the key combination will remain in effect.
Disable Task Switch keys (Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Esc, Alt+Esc)
Select this check box to disable the task key combinations. This prevents users from showing and selecting the running applications (
Alt+Tab
), switching between the applications on the task bar (
Ctrl+Esc
), and showing the
Start
menu (
Alt+Esc
).
Disable Task Manager keys (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)
Select this check box to disable the
Ctrl+Shift+Esc
key combination and prevent users from opening the
Task Manager
dialog box.
Disable Windows hot keys (Windows Logo+?)
Select this check box to disable any hot key combinations that use the
Windows logo
(Windows logo) key.
Automatically disable selected hot keys after a period of inactivity
If any of the above check boxes are selected, this check box becomes available. Select this check box to activate the list of time options.
Seconds
Select a time period in seconds from the list. If no keyboard, or mouse activity is detected for the specified number of seconds, the key combinations whose boxes are selected will be automatically disabled. This prevents any of the DeskLock settings being indefinitely overridden by a runtime setting.
