Add an existing component

You can add a component that already exists in some other applications, or elsewhere on your system, into the application you are currently editing. This creates a copy in the editor’s folder in the current application and leaves the original component untouched.
If you add a display from an older version HMI server and that display contains a Trend object with
FactoryTalk Historian SE
pens:
  • The display will be converted to the newer version.
  • If there is more than one
    FactoryTalk Historian
    server configured in
    FactoryTalk Directory
    , the first
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
server name will be saved into the trend's
    Model
    name of the
    Pens
    tab as <
    FactoryTalk Historian
    server name>.
  • If there are no
    FactoryTalk Historian
    servers configured in
    FactoryTalk Directory
when copying, the Trend version will be converted to the new version but the
    FactoryTalk Historian
server name will not be saved and the
    Model
    name of the
    Pens
    tab is NULL.
To add an existing component:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
, in the Explorer window, right-click the editor’s icon and select
    Add Component into Project
    .
  2. In the
    Add Component into Project
dialog box, locate the existing component you plan to add and select
    Open
    .
    TIP:
You can also drag components from the Windows Explorer and from the
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    window.
