Navigation menu

The navigation menu allows you to quickly build navigation according to the hierarchy of your application without using FactoryTalk View objects to switch between displays.
At design time, you can:
  • Configure the following in the navigation menu editor:
    • One or multiple navigation menus, which can be
shown distinctly on different display clients, multiple monitors, or one display client's different positions
      .
    • Menu items by adding graphic displays organized in folders, which represent the display hierarchy at runtime.
    • Folder and menu item icons on the navigation menu.
    • Navigation menu appearance.
    • Whether to turn on runtime search of displays on the navigation menu and their tags.
    • Whether to show the
      Backward
      ,
      Forward
      , and
      History
      buttons on the navigation menu.
    • How each display shows via the display commands.
    • Alarms and device diagnostic event notifications.
  • Configure how to launch the navigation menu on the display client.
Add the DisplayNavigationMenu command button or add the command into a startup macro to launch the navigation menu at runtime.
At runtime, you can:
  • Quickly navigate among displays.
  • Quickly learn the important system alerts through the automated population of alarms and device diagnostic event notifications.
  • Easily locate referenced tags across all displays configured in the display client's navigation menu and double-click an item to navigate to the associated tag's faceplate or graphic display.
