Expression editor

How do I open the Expression editor
The steps vary depending on the editor you are working in:
  • Derived Tags and Events editors
The Expression editor is integrated into the editor and visible as soon as you open the hosting editor.
  • Graphic Displays, Global Objects, and Libraries editors
The Expression editor is available from the
    Connections
tab for most graphic objects that require set up, and from the
    Properties
dialog box for certain objects, such as the Button.
The Expression editor is also available in tabs of the
    Animation
    dialog box.
  • Data Log Models editor
The Expression editor is available in the
    File Management
    tab when you select
    On Event
as the method for determining when to start a new data log file.
Expressions let you manipulate the data gathered from devices and make it more meaningful by comparing it to other values, combining it with other values, creating cause and effect relationships between values, or displaying it.
The Expression Editor has buttons that help you form expressions correctly. Five of these,
If
,
Logical
,
Relational
,
Arithmetic
and
Bitwise
, provide a list of the operators used in the particular type of expression. The
Functions
button lists all the mathematical and other tag functions, that can be used in expressions. The
Tags
button opens the Tag browser to let you search the database for a particular tag.
The Expression editor is available in these editors:
  • Derived Tags
  • Events
  • Graphics
  • Data Log Models
