Create a backup

Application Manager can back up all contents of the application except the historical data logging in ODBC database or DataLogPro, historical alarm and event logging database,
FactoryTalk Historian SE
historical data log. The archive is saved with an .apb extension.
TIP:
You need to manually back up the driver configurations of OPC server, ODBC database, DataLogPro historical records, Alarms and Events historical database, or
FactoryTalk Historian SE
server if you have set up in your application.
To create a backup
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View SE
    Application Manager, select an application type and click the
    Create a Backup
    tab.
  2. In the
    Choose Application
    area, select an application.
  3. In the
    Review and Customize
    area, specify the following fields if needed:
    • Host Machine
      if redundancy for HMI server is enabled. Select the primary or secondary server to include in the archive.
    • Datalog
      to back up the data log for an HMI server.
      TIP:
      Only the internal data logging file sets stored in the default path can be backed up. Otherwise, you need to manually back up the historical data logging files.
    • Encrypt the backup
      to encrypt the file contents.
      TIP:
      Remember the password if you select to encrypt the backup. The archive cannot be restored without the correct password.
      Avoid using the slash symbol (/) in the password because it's not supported in the restoring operation with command.
  4. In the
    Finalize and Begin Backup
    area, specify the following fields if needed:
    • Archive Name
      to save the archive with another name.
    • Target Folder
      to save the archive under another folder. The default folder is C:\Users\Public\Documents\RSView Enterprise\SE\Archives.
  5. Click
    Backup
    .
