Options on the X-Axis tab of the Trend Object Properties dialog box

The following table shows the options on the
X-Axis
tab of the
Trend Object Properties
dialog box.
Options
Descriptions
Start date and Start time
Together, these two options determine the starting date and starting time on the left edge of the chart. As the chart scrolls with new data, it updates with the latest data for the specified time span. The start date and start time serve only as starting points on the chart. The start date must fall between 1/1/1992 and 12/31/2037.
To select a date from the calendar, click the
Down Arrow
beside the
Start date
box.
To select a time, click the
Up
or
Down
arrow beside the
Start time
box.
Start date
and
Start time
are disabled when scrolling is allowed. To enable
Start date
and
Start time
, clear the
Allow scrolling
check box on the
Display
tab.
Time span
Type a time and then click a time unit to specify the amount of data the trend chart displays at runtime. For a standard line chart, the time span controls the chart's horizontal scale.
For an XY plot, the
Min
and
Max
properties configured on the
Pens
tab of the selected pen control the horizontal scale, and the time span controls the number of data points plotted.
When configured through the
X-Axis
tab, the time span does not have a specific limit. The only limitation is that the time span cannot be so large that the start date plus the time span is later than 12/31/2037 when not scrolling. Also, the current date minus the time span cannot be earlier than 1/1/1992 when scrolling.
Display scale
Specifies whether an x-axis label appears at the bottom of the chart.
For a standard line chart, the labels show the start and end times. For an XY plot, the labels show the minimum and maximum value range of the pen selected as the x-axis. If there is room, intermediate values are shown as well.
Display grid lines
Select this check box to show vertical grid lines on the chart.
Grid lines
Specifies how many vertical grid ines to show on the chart.
Available values are 0-30.
Minor grid lines
Specifies how many minor vertical grid lines to show on the chart. These lines appear between the major grid lines and do not have axis values shown.
Available values are 0-10.
Grid color
Specifies the color of the vertical grid lines.
