Set up ME Runtime 4.00 and later user and group accounts
Like RSView 3.20 user accounts, FactoryTalk View 4.00 user accounts work with security codes to determine who has access to the system at runtime. Add user accounts through the
Runtime Security
editor, and then assign security access to the individual users. The first account ID in the ME Runtime 4.00 and later spreadsheet is DEFAULT, with security codes A through P checked. The DEFAULT account is used when no user is logged on. Unless you change the security code settings for the DEFAULT account, everyone has access to all parts of the runtime system without logging on. You can change which security codes are checked for the DEFAULT account, but you cannot change the name of this user account or assign it a password.
To restrict access to individual graphic displays, assign the displays a security code from A through P. Then change the DEFAULT user account to turn off access to the security codes you have assigned, and assign security codes to users and user groups. To have access to a display that has a security codes assigned to it, the user must have an account set up with that security code turned on, that is, its check box is checked in the security code grid.
TIP:
In ME Runtime 3.20 and earlier, the asterisk symbol applied to a display made the display accessible to all users. In 4.00 and later, the asterisk gives access to any user who has at least one security code assigned.
