Default colors and styles
When you open the
Graphics
editor, the background and foreground colors, the back style and the pattern style used for drawing items are set to default values. You can change these values using the toolbars for each of these properties.Default colors
To see what the default colors are, open the
Foreground
and Background
color palettes. With the Graphics
editor open, from the View
menu, select Toolbars > Foreground Colors
or Background Colors
. A check appears beside the menu item to show that the toolbar is open.The default color will appear selected in the palette. To change the default color, select another color. The color you select will be the default value for all drawing objects (except the panel and image objects) until you select another color in the palette.
Show displays in grayscale
Applications running on the
PanelView Plus
grayscale terminals do not show in color. If you are developing applications for these terminals, show displays in grayscale to see how the displays appear at runtime.To show displays in grayscale
- SelectView > Show Displays in Grayscale.
All open displays will change from full color to grayscale.
TIP:
Show displays in Grayscale
doesn’t work:- On third-party ActiveX objects.
- In the Test Application mode.
When the display’s background color or the object’s back style is gradient.
Default styles
The
Back Style
and Pattern Style
toolbars control the default values for these properties. With the Graphics
editor open, from the View
menu, select Toolbars > Pattern Styles
or Back Styles
. A check appears beside the menu item to show that the toolbar is open.By default, the back style property is
Transparent
, and the pattern style property is None. If you select a back style or pattern style in the toolbar, the style you select becomes the new default.
TIP:
The color or style that shows as selected in the toolbar is the default color or style, not the color or style of the currently selected object in the display.
