Assign global object parameter values
Global object parameters are assigned to reference objects in graphic displays.
Use the
Global Object Parameter Values
dialog box to assign unique parameter values to multiple reference objects without having to break the links to the base object's tags and expressions.To assign global object parameter values
- Select a reference object on a graphic display.
- Right-click and then selectGlobal Object Parameter Valuesfrom the context menu to open theGlobal Object Parameter Valuesdialog box.orFrom theEditmenu, selectGlobal Object Parameter Values.
- Assign values to each of the parameters defined in theGlobal Object Parameter Definitionsdialog box.TheGlobal Object Parameter Valuesmenu choice will be unavailable if:
- the object selected is not a reference object
- the object selected is a reference object but its base object has no global object parameters defined
- the object selected is part of a group reference object
Options
- NameNames of global object parameters defined in theGlobal Object Parameter Definitionsdialog box are shown here. Users cannot edit this cell.
- ValueType a value for the global object parameter. This can be any string. If a tag is selected in the next cell, the tag will be displayed in the Value cell. This property is optional.
- TagClick theBrowsebutton to open theTag Browserand select a tag or a folder as the parameter value. Selecting a folder that contains a structure tag establishes a path to the structure tag that will act as the backing tag for this reference object.

Users cannot edit this cell.TIP:To ensure that changes made to the tags and expressions in the base object are also made in the reference object, set the global object defaults in the reference object as follows:
