Import an application
Use
FactoryTalk View Studio
and Machine Edition Import Wizard to import and convert an application to current version FactoryTalk View ME
application.To import an application
- IfFactoryTalk View Studiois not started, startFactoryTalk View Studio.
- IfFactoryTalk View Studiois started, from theFilemenu, selectNew Applicationor click theNew Applicationtool. If an application is already open,FactoryTalk View Studioasks you whether to close the application. ClickYes.
- On theNewtab of theNew/Open Machine Edition Applicationdialog box, enter a name for the application in theApplication Namebox.
- (Optional) Enter a description for the application. You can also modify the description in the applicationPropertiesdialog box after the application is imported.TIP:If the imported application contains an application file comment, the comment will overwrite your description when the application is imported.
- Select a language for the application. You can add more languages in theLanguage Configurationdialog box after the application is imported.
- ClickImportto start the Machine Edition Import Wizard.
- In theMachine Edition Import Wizard - Import Typedialog box, select the type of file that you want to import and clickNext.
- In theMachine Edition Import Wizard - Import Filedialog box, enter the name of the file you want to import or click the browse button to select the file.
- If you are importing aFactoryTalk View MEapplication (.med), clickFinish.
- If you are not importing aFactoryTalk View MEapplication (.med), clickNext. In theMachine Edition Import Wizard - Import Optionsdialog box, specify graphic display conversion and touch property and clickFinish.
The Machine Edition Import Wizard converts the imported application to a Machine Edition application and shows it in the Explorer window. The system automatically creates a display called
MAIN
and sets the initial graphic to Main
.By default, the converted files are stored in:
\Users\Public\Public Documents\RSView Enterprise\ME\HMI projects\<ApplicationName>
The application file is given the extension .med.
TIP:
- The original resolution will not change during the import and conversion. You can modify the resolution in theProject Settingseditor after the application is imported.
- If errors occur during the conversion, a message describing the errors will show and the errors will be logged to aconvert.logfile located in the root folder of the ME project.
- On a computer running aSQL Server®2008 R2 Standard 64-bit instance, if you fail to convert the tag database when importing a PVC application, try restarting the computer and importing the application again.
