Import a single display XML file
When you select the
Single display import file
option in the Import File Type
dialog box, you complete the import specifications in this dialog box.To import a single graphic display file
- Click theBrowsebutton to navigate to the graphic display XML file to import.
- Select the file and clickOpen. The selected file name appears in the text box in theSingle Import Filedialog box.
- From the drop-down list, select the name of the display you want to modify. All the displays in the application are listed.
- Specify whether to create new objects on the display or update existing objects.
- ClickFinishto complete the import.TIP:
- You cannot create new objects and update existing objects with the same file import.
- If the display is open, the import cannot occur.
- Cancelling during import does not return the display to its previous state. If you cancel the operation before it is completed, any changes that have already been made to the display will be retained.
- When you export graphic displays, an XML file with the same name as the display and with the file extension .xml is created for each display exported. In addition, a batch import file is created that is given the nameBatchImport_<applicationname>.xml.
- If the file to be imported contains any characters other than English, be sure the file is saved in UTF-8 format before importing.
Options
- Select the single display import file to useNavigate to and select the graphics display XML file to import.
- Select the display to import toSelect the display into which to import the file.
- When importing
- Create new objects on the displayChoose this option if the XML file you are importing creates new objects on the specified display.
- Update existing objects on the displayChoose this option if the XML file you are importing modifies the properties of objects already on the display.TIP:Each graphic display file included in the batch import can be defined to create new objects or to update existing objects by manually adding the importType attribute to the import element. If the importType attribute is specified in the file, what appears there will override the setting in this dialog. If nothing is specified, this setting will be applied to the file during import.
