Import a single display XML file

When you select the
Single display import file
option in the
Import File Type
dialog box, you complete the import specifications in this dialog box.
To import a single graphic display file
  1. Click the
    Browse
button to navigate to the graphic display XML file to import.
  2. Select the file and click
    Open
. The selected file name appears in the text box in the
    Single Import File
    dialog box.
  3. From the drop-down list, select the name of the display you want to modify. All the displays in the application are listed.
  4. Specify whether to create new objects on the display or update existing objects.
  5. Click
    Finish
    to complete the import.
    TIP:
    • You cannot create new objects and update existing objects with the same file import.
    • If the display is open, the import cannot occur.
    • Cancelling during import does not return the display to its previous state. If you cancel the operation before it is completed, any changes that have already been made to the display will be retained.
    • When you export graphic displays, an XML file with the same name as the display and with the file extension .xml is created for each display exported. In addition, a batch import file is created that is given the name
      BatchImport_<
      applicationname
      >.xml.
    • If the file to be imported contains any characters other than English, be sure the file is saved in UTF-8 format before importing.
