Set up data logging (Setup tab)

In the
Setup
tab, provide a brief description of the data log model, and specify how many tag values to store.
Options
  • Model name
    This is the name you specify when you save the data log model. To save the model, click
    Close
    , or, from the
    File
    menu, choose
    Save
    .
    You cannot save a data log model until you have added at least one tag to the model in the Tags on the
    Model
     tab.
  • Description
    Type a brief description of the model, up to 50 characters. This is for your information only.
  • Maximum data points
    Type the total number of tag values to store. When this number is reached, the oldest tag values are deleted to make room for new values. The higher you set the limit, the more space the data log file requires on the runtime computer; or, if you are logging to a custom path on a remote computer, more space is required on the remote computer.
    The minimum value to store is 100. The maximum value is 1,000,000 for version 7.00.00 or 300,000 for release versions earlier than 7.00.00. The default is 1000.
    IMPORTANT:
    Applications with a very large number of data points in the data log model, at or close to the maximum, will take longer to close than applications with a smaller number of data points.
