Configure the FactoryTalk DataMosaix SaaS Power BI Connector

Perform the following steps to configure the
FactoryTalk DataMosaix SaaS
Power BI connector:
  1. Download the connector file (
    DataMosaix.mez
    ) using the PowerBI Download link if the user has not done already.
  2. Copy the connector file (
    DataMosaix.mez
    ) to the following location:
    Location Details
    Users
    Location
    Power BI Gateway Personal Mode
    C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors
    Power BI Gateway Standard Mode
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors
  3. Open the Power BI Desktop application.
  4. Navigate to
    Options
    >
    Security
    >
    Data Extensions
    , and verify that the
    (Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validating or warning
    option is selected, if it is not, select it.

  5. Re-open the Power BI Desktop.
    The custom connectors can be selected on Power BI Desktop.
  6. Register the application using the Single Page Application type in
    FactoryTalk DataMosaix SaaS
    . For information on registering an application in
    FactoryTalk DataMosaix SaaS
    , refer to Register Application.
    NOTE:
    For registering Single Page Applications for Power BI, use https://oauth.powerbi.com/views/oauthredirect.html as the application URL (callback URL).
    NOTE:
    Note the generated client ID.
  7. In the Power BI Desktop application, navigate to
    Get Data
    >
    More...
    .
    Navigate to More
    The
    Get Data
    dialog box is displayed.
  8. In the
    Get Data
    dialog box, select
    Other
    >
    FT DataMosaix (Beta)
    .

  9. Click
    Connect
    .
    The
    FT DataMosaix
    dialog box is displayed.
  10. From the
    Environment
    drop-down list, select the
    Prod
    environment.
  11. Provide the
    Application ID
    (Client ID),
    Project Name
    , and
    The cluster hosting the project
    details.
  12. Click
    OK
    .

    TIP:
    For Application ID, use the Client ID generated while registering the application. Refer to the following screenshot:

  13. In the
    Authentication
    dialog box, select
    OAuth2
    and then sign in to
    FactoryTalk DataMosaix SaaS
    using the user's credentials. Authentication may be required if the user is connecting to their project for the first time.

  14. Click
    Connect
    .
    The Power BI Connector establishes a connection to the data source and displays the available data sources in the
    Navigator
    dialog box. The user is ready to work with Power BI reports.
