Hold propagation
The
Hold Propagation
area allows you to indicate the hold propagation type to use
when the FactoryTalk Batch
Server detects a failure caused by a watchdog timeout, a handshake timeout, or a phase
failure (PHASE_F > 0). A Hold command associated with a failure propagates up through the
recipe hierarchy as high as the mode and selected option allows.Hold Propagation Type | Description |
---|---|
Phase | Only the affected phase is held, allowing the balance of the phase’s unit and all other units to continue running. |
Operation | Only the affected phase and the related operation are held, allowing the balance of the operation’s unit and all other units to continue running. |
Unit | The phase and the related unit are held and all other units continue running. |
Batch | (Default) Holds the entire batch when a failure is detected by the FactoryTalk Batch Server. |
This diagram shows how a step’s mode can affect the hold propagation. Depending on the step’s mode, the batch may be held at a lower level than the selected hold propagation option.
