FactoryTalk Event Archiver ODBC connection
Follow these instructions to create the ODBC connection to the
SQL Server
.Important: | These instructions assume that the SQL Server runs on a different computer than the computer with the FactoryTalk Batch Server and FactoryTalk Event Archiver installation.Run the FactoryTalk Event Archiver Setup application from the computer with the FactoryTalk Batch Server and FactoryTalk Event Archiver installation. |
Before you begin
:- If using Incremental Archiving, make sure the user account assigned to theFactoryTalk Event Archiverservice has login access toSQL Serverand has permission to insert data into the BATCHHIS or BHBATCHHIS table.
- If using End of Batch Archiving, make sure the user account assigned to theFactoryTalk BatchServer has access to the BatchHistory database on theSQL Serverand has permission to insert data into the BATCHHIS or BHBATCHHIS table.
- Ensure the server’s user account is a member of the local Administrator’s group on theSQL Servercomputer.
To create the ODBC connection to the
:- Open theFactoryTalk Event ArchiverSetup application and select theMachine Data Sourcetab.
- SelectNew....
- On theCreate New Data Sourcedialog box, selectSystem Data Source (applies to this machine only), and then selectNext.
- From theSelect a driver for which you want to set up a data sourcearea, locate and selectSQL Server.
- SelectNextand then selectFinish.
- On theCreate a New Data Source to SQL Serverdialog box, do the following:
- InName,enter a name for the data source.
- InDescription,enter a description of the data source.
- From theServerlist, select theSQL Server. If theSQL Serveris on this machine, selectlocal.
- SelectNext.
- Set howSQL Servershould verify the authenticity of the login ID by selectingWith Windows NT authentication using the network login ID.
- Verify thatConnect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration optionsis selected, and then selectNext.
- Check theChange the default database tobox, and selectBatchHistory(FactoryTalk Event Archiver) orBatchHistoryEx(FactoryTalk Event Archiverwith Reporting Services)
- SelectUse ANSI quoted identifiersand then selectUse ANSI nulls, paddings, and warnings.
- SelectNext.
- SelectPerform translation for character data, and then selectFinish.
- On theODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setupdialog box, selectTest Data Sourceto display the results.
- If the test is successful, selectOKto close theSQL Server ODBC Data Source Testwindow.
- If the test is not successful, contact the system administrator.
- SelectOKto exit theODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setupdialog box, and return to theSelect Data Sourcedialog box.
- Select theMachine Data Sourcetab, select the new data source, and then selectOK.
