Data source overview

Installing the
FactoryTalk Batch
Server and Client software configures the Data Source name (DSN) and creates the ODBC Connect String.
FactoryTalk Event Archiver
uses the Connect String to locate the database. Once created, the Connect String is stored in the
BatchArc.ini
file. This Data Source name serves as an alias for the database.
After installation, configure
FactoryTalk Event Archiver
for Incremental or End-of-Batch archiving. This involves configuring
FactoryTalk Batch Equipment Editor
Server Options
and the
FactoryTalk Event Archiver
service.
Make sure to configure user accounts according to the following:
  • If using Incremental Archiving, make sure the user account assigned to the
    FactoryTalk Event Archiver
service has login access to SQL Server and has permission to insert data into the BHBATCHHIS table.
  • If using End of Batch Archiving, make sure the user account assigned to the
    FactoryTalk Batch
Server has access to the BatchHistoryEx database on the SQL Server and has permission to insert and execute data into the BHBATCHHIS table.
  • Ensure the server’s user account is a member of the local Administrator’s group on the SQL Server computer.
