About time-based activation

If an activation in FactoryTalk AssetCentre has expired or reached expiration warning threshold, the system shows the activation's expiration status each time the FactoryTalk AssetCentre desktop client is launched. In this situation, when you open the FactoryTalk AssetCentre desktop client, the
Activation Expiration
dialog box opens, showing the following information:
  • The activation or activations that have expired
  • The number of days left before an activation expires
By default, the expiration warning threshold is 45 days. For example, if an activation will expire in 45 days or less, the system notifies you about the activation expiration status. If an activation will expire in 46 days or more, the system does not.
When an activation has expired or reached expiration warning threshold, the expiration information is recorded in the Event Log. You can view the file attachment in the Event Log for further information, which includes:
  • activation name, version, and copyright
  • detailed information of the activations that expired or will expire in 45 days.
