Define date and time for a fuzzy search of logs

Use the
New Condition
or
Condition Properties
dialog box to define date and time for a fuzzy search on the logs generated based on date and time. This function applies to
Date
,
Activity Date/Time
,
Occurred Time
, and
Logged Time
columns.
To define date and time for a fuzzy search of logs
  1. In the
    New Condition
    or
    Condition Properties
    dialog box, select a column associated with date and time such as
    Occurred Time
    or
    Logged Time
    .
  2. (optional) Clear the
    Ignore time
    check box to set time.
    It is selected by default to disable the time setting.
  3. Select
    Absolute date/time
    or
    Relative to date/time report is run
    .
    • Absolute Date/Time
      Enter or select the date and time so that the search will return activities that occurred at the specified time according to the server computer’s time settings.
      You can use this option to search an activity that you know occurred on the exact day.
    • Relative to date/time report is run
      Enter or select the date and time so that the search will return activities that occurred at the specified time according to the client computer’s time settings.
      You can use this option to search an activity that you know occurred within the last week but you do not know the exact day.
      For Example, the client computer's date is December 3, 2020. If you select this date/time type and specify
      Date/Time selection options
      as two days ago, the relative date will be defined as December 1, 2020 and then the search will be run based on this date.
  4. Select date/time options.
    • Equal To
      Enter or select the date and time (or days and hours ago) for which you want to search.
      For Example, the the computer's date is December 3, 2020. If you select
      Relative to date/time report is run
      and specify two days ago for this option, the search will return activities occurred on December 1, 2020.
    • Between
      Enter or select the start and end time for which you want to search. Between specifies a period including the start and end time.
      For example, the the computer's date is December 3, 2020. If you select
      Relative to date/time report is run
      and specify two days ago in the upper date box and one day ago in the lower date box, the search will be run to return activities occurred between December 1, 2020 and December 2, 2020.
    • Before
      Enter or select the date prior to which the activities happened. The search will return activities that occurred prior to the specified time, not including activities that occurred at the specified time.
      For example, the client computer's date is December 3, 2020. If you select
      Relative to date/time report is run
      and specify two days ago for this option, the search will return activities that occurred prior to December 1, 2020, not including activities that occurred on December 1, 2020. Thus, to include activities that occurred on December 1, 2020, specify one day ago for this option, or use the
      Equal To
      option to specify that exact date.
    • After
      Enter or select the date later than which the activities happened. The search will return activities that occurred later than the specified time, not including activities that occurred at the specified time.
      For example, the client computer's date is December 3, 2020. If you select
      Relative to date/time report is run
      and specify two days ago for this option, the search will return activities that occurred later than December 1, 2020, not including activities that occurred on December 1, 2020. Thus, to include activities that occurred on December 1, 2020, specify three days ago for this option, or use the
      Equal To
      option to specify that exact date.
  5. Select
    OK
