Items in S5 Addressing dialog box

Items in the dialog box include:
  • Connection Path
    Select the protocol and network-specific details used to communicate to the physical device. The path segments in curly brackets {} indicate the communications protocol used in that portion of the path.
    PLC
    at the end of the path represents the S5 controller to which you are connecting. The number at the beginning of the path is unique to each communication path. It can be used as a reference to quickly compare the configuration of assets or to communicate with other technical personnel regarding the selected communication path.
    Only two connection paths are available.
    This connection path...
    is used for...
    01-PC->{H1}->CP-H1->PLC
    connecting to the communications controller using the H1-ISO protocol. The INAT H1 driver is required. No other H1 driver (for example, Siemens) can be used for H1 backups with FactoryTalk AssetCentre.
    51-PC->{TCP/IP}->TCP/IP->PLC
    connecting to the Communications controller in an S5 system using TCP/IP protocol.
  • IP Address
    (Visible only with protocol numbers 51-56.) Type the IP address of the physical device.
  • H1 Address
    (Visible only with protocol numbers 1-6 and 81-83.) Type the MAC address of the communication module that supports the H1 protocol, or converter depending on the protocol selected. Type the address in the format xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx where x is any number 0-9 or letter from A-F (or a-f). For example, 00.21.A0.06.16.E9.
