Settings in the Backup Configuration dialog box

The following table lists the settings in the
Backup Configuration
dialog box and their meanings.
Settings
Description
Local FactoryTalk Directory and Remote FactoryTalk Directory
Select which FactoryTalk Directory to backup.
  • A local FactoryTalk Directory is associated with your FactoryTalk AssetCentre system.
  • A remote FactoryTalk Directory is on a separate FactoryTalk Directory system from the FactoryTalk Directory associated with your FactoryTalk AssetCentre system.
Username
Enter the username to sign in to the FactoryTalk Directory that you want to back up.
Note: The Azure AD and OpenID Connect user credentials are not supported.
Password
Enter the password of the username used to sign in to the FactoryTalk Directory.
The password is encrypted in the database.
Server name
Enter the FactoryTalk Directory server name.
Directory
Specify which directory to backup, network or local.
  • For a local FactoryTalk Directory, both network and local directories can be backed up.
  • For a remote FactoryTalk Directory, only the network directory can be backed up. All applications and system configurations of this remote FactoryTalk Directory will be backed up.
Connect
Click to check if the username and password can be logged on to the FactoryTalk Directory. If the user name and password are correct, the tree view of the FactoryTalk Directory shows in the Explorer of the
Backup
section.
Explorer view
Represent the tree view of the FactoryTalk network or local directory as you see in the Explorer of FactoryTalk Administration Console.
Backup System in archive
The
Backup System in archive
checkbox is available only if you are backing up an application. This checkbox is selected and disabled when backing up the entire directory or the System folder.
  • To include the contents of the System folder in the backup file, select this checkbox.
  • Choose this option when you want to restore only one application from a
    FactoryTalk Directory
    , but want to include all user and computer accounts and groups, passwords, policy settings, and security settings from the original
    FactoryTalk Directory
    .
  • To back up only the application without the System folder, clear this checkbox.
  • Choose this option when you want to add an application to an existing
    FactoryTalk Directory
    without overwriting the settings held in the System folder.
Encrypt file contents
Select this checkbox to encrypt the backup file. Encrypting the file protects it against unauthorized use.
Passphrase
Type a passphrase for the backup file that you want to encrypt.
The passphrase must meet the following requirements:
  • Any alphanumeric character or other characters
  • Minimum length: 0
  • Maximum length: 64
Confirm passphrase
Type the same passphrase you typed in the
Passphrase
field.
