Pulse Width Modulation view parameters

The
Pulse Width Modulation
view includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Point
Indicates the output point to which the PWM settings are applied.
PWM Enable
Select the checkbox to enable PWM. If this checkbox is cleared, all other PWM settings are unavailable, and the PWM On time and cycle time for the point are ignored.
By default, PWM is disabled.
Minimum On Time
Enter the minimum length in seconds that is required for the output to turn on.
If this value is 0,
Minimum On Time
is disabled.
On Time in
Choose the method to define PWM On Time:
  • Seconds
    (default)
  • Percent
Enable Cycle Limit
Select the checkbox to restrict the number of pulse cycles to the defined
Cycle Limit
.
Extend Cycle to Accommodate Minimum On Time
Select or clear this checkbox to determine the output behavior when the On Time is less than the Minimum On Time:
  • Select the checkbox to increase the duration of the pulse cycle to maintain the On Time to Cycle Time ratio while taking into account the Minimum On Time.
Extending the cycle time is typically useful only when the On Time is a result of a calculation.
  • Clear the checkbox if you do not want to increase the pulse cycle duration. In this case, the output does not turn On if the On Time is less than the minimum On Time.
By default the checkbox is cleared and cycles to not extend.
Cycle Limit
Enter the Maximum number of pulse cycles to occur on each output logic transition when
Enable Cycle Limit
is selected.
Valid values = 1...127
Default value = 1
Execute All Cycles
Select the checkbox to always execute the number of cycles specified in the Cycle Limit even if the Data output tag turns Off.
If the output logic transitions multiple times before the cycle limit is reached, all subsequent transitions are ignored until the cycle limit is reached. Once the cycle limit is reached, a new cycle sequence begins.
By default the checkbox is cleared.
