Import a shared library

Import a shared library to use the object definitions in that library in your project. Importing a shared library prevents having to recreate objects that exist in another library. Two versions of the same library cannot exist in a
FactoryTalk® Design Studio
project.
  1. In the explorer bar, select Library icon
    Library
    and then right-click the
    User-defined libraries
    and then select
    Import user-defined library
    .
    TIP: To import a shared library, you can also select
    File > Import > User-defined library
    and search for the library.
  2. In
    Import user-defined library
    , search for or navigate to the library to import.
  3. (optional) To delete a shared library that you no longer need from the shared library location of your organization, select the row of the shared library. select
    Delete
    , and then select
    Delete
    again to confirm the deletion.
    TIP: The ability to delete a shared library depends on your assigned user role:
    • Guest. Cannot delete a shared library.
    • Admin. Can delete any library shared within the organization.
    • Engineer. Can only delete libraries that they share.
    TIP: You cannot undo the deletion of a shared library.
  4. Select the library to import and select
    Import
    .
    NOTE: If you try to import a library that already exists in your project, you are prompted to select
    Apply
    to delete the local version of the library and import the new version.
In
Library
explorer, a new sub-folder appears under
User-defined libraries
that includes the imported shared library.
