Define point discovery rules
Use the rules to define which tags from the data source should be listed for the point discovery process so that you can create points for them in your Historian module.
To define a rule
- In theFactoryTalk Historian ME Rule Editorwindow, clickRule File Management.TheFactoryTalk Historian ME User Defined Rule File Listdialog box appears.
- Select the rule file for which you want to add rules, and then clickOpen.
- In theFactoryTalk Historian ME Rule Editorwindow, clickNew.TheDefine Discovery Ruledialog box appears.
- UnderDescription, type a description for the rule.The description will be listed in the FactoryTalk Historian ME Rule Editor list.
- Define the data source:
- UnderFrom, leave the default settings for the data source:LinxEnterpriseandLogixControllers.
- Define the type of the rule:
- If you are creating an inclusion rule, chooseinclude tags.
- If you are creating an exclusion rule, chooseexclude tags.
- UnderWhere, define the condition with tag search criteria:
- Choose one of the following:Choose this itemTo discover tags that matchnameA tag name.memberA member name.A member is an element of a user-defined tag (UDT).data typeA data type.
- Choose one of the following:Choose this itemIf you want yourTostarts with
- name
Start with a specific string.containsContain a specific string.ends withEnd with a specific string.is- name
- member
- data type
Be a specific string. - Provide the string:For this itemDo the followingnameType the string in the box.memberdata typeChoose the data type from the list.
- If you have chosenmember, underAdd these historian points, select an element within the member with which you want to perform the search.
- Click
to add another search criterion to the condition.TIP:To remove a search criterion, click
- From the list, choose either of the following to define the relation between the search criteria:Choose this itemIf you want thatandAll the search criteria from the condition are met in the point discovery process.orAny search criterion from the condition is met in the point discovery process.
- UnderUse this configuration, choose the tag attribute file that you want to use with the rule.If there are no files available, choose<New Configuration>to create one.For details, see Create tag attribute files.If you do not choose any file, the default tag attribute file,FTHMETagDefault.xml, will be used.
- ClickOK.The rule appears in theFactoryTalk Historian ME Rule Editorwindow.
- Upload your file to the Historian module. See Upload files to the module.
