Assign global object parameter values

Global object parameter values are assigned in reference objects in graphic displays. Use the
Global Object Parameter Values
dialog box to assign unique parameter values to multiple reference objects without having to break the links to the base object's tags and expressions.
When using a Parameter file to call a display that is also using a Global Object with settings for the
Global Objects Parameter Definitions
and
Global Object Parameter Values
, the numbers in shown in the
Name
column should not be similar to the numbers shown in the
Value
column. The parameter file operation is a simple accumulative set of string substitutions and the order of the substitution may not occur as planned if any of the numbers in the two columns on the
Global Object Parameter Values
configuration window match. The images below shows a sample of a numbering sequence that will ensure correct parameter substitution behavior.
To assign global object parameter values:
  1. In the
    Graphics
editor, on a graphic display, right-click a reference object and select
    Global Object Parameter Values
    . You can also select
    Edit
    >
    Global Object Parameter Values
    on the menu.
    TIP:
    The
    Global Object Parameter Values
menu item will be unavailable if:
    • The object selected is not a reference object.
    • The object selected is a reference object but its base object has no global object parameters defined.
    • The object selected is part of a group reference object.
  2. In the
    Global Object Parameter Values
dialog box, assign values to each parameter.
    TIP:
To ensure that changes made to the tags and expressions in the base object are also made in the reference object, set the global object defaults in the reference object as follows:
    • LinkAnimations = Link with expression
    • LinkConnections = True
