Set up version checking of cached files
When you open a file in a
FactoryTalk View SE
Client, for example when you open a FactoryTalk View
graphic file, it is copied from the server to the Temporary Internet Files directory on the client hard drive, and then opened. If the file is opened again, the version cached on the client is displayed. If the file on the server is more recent, it is copied to the client. The caching behavior of the Internet Explorer must be set up so that every time a page is to be visited, Internet Explorer checks to see if there is a newer version of stored pages to ensure that the most recent display is used.
If you want a graphic file to remain loaded but invisible, for example to keep an ActiveX control running, use the
/ZA
parameter with the Display command, or in the Properties tab of the Display Settings dialog, select the Always Updating option. The cached files are also used when the server is disconnected from the client.
To set up version checking of cached files:
- InInternet ExplorerclickTools>Internet options.
- In theGeneraltab, in theTemporary Internet filesframe, clickSettings.
- In theSettingsdialog box, forCheck for newer versions of stored pages, clickEvery visit to the page.
- ClickOKin theSettingsandInternet Optionsdialog boxes.TIP:In Internet Explorer if you leaveCheck for Newer versions of stored pages, set to Automatic, which is the default, Internet Explorer will not update the ActiveX control if a newer version exists.
