Rename a component

When you rename a component, the component name and its path can take up to 256 characters.
Names for the following
FactoryTalk View Studio
 components do not support extended ASCII characters or Unicode characters: applications, areas, HMI servers, data servers, HMI tags,
FactoryTalk Linx
 shortcuts,
FactoryTalk View Studio
 application files (SED files), and all
FactoryTalk View
 application components, including graphic displays, parameter files, macro files, events files, derived tag files, and data log files.
TIP:
To rename an application, use the
Application Manager
 tool. For more information, see Application Manager Help.
To rename a component:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the Explorer window, right-click the component and select
    Rename
    .
  2. In the
    Rename
     dialog box, type the new name and click
    OK
    .
