Text Properties dialog box
The following table shows the options in the
Text Properties
dialog box.Options | Properties |
---|---|
Text | Type the text for the text object. If you insert an embedded variable, the embedded variable syntax appears in the text field, but the text of the variable appears on the face of the text object during runtime. |
Insert Variable | Adds an embedded variable to the text. Click Insert Variable and then select the type of variable to be inserted in the text object. In the dialog box, specify the details of the variable. After you have set up the embedded variable, the syntax appears in the text field. |
Font | Type the name of the font you intend to use or choose it from the list. |
Size | Select a font size. The sizes available depend on the font you have selected. |
Bold (B), Italic (I), Underline (U) | Click a letter, or letters, to specify the font style for the text, if required. |
Back color | The box displays the default or current background color. Click the box to select another color. The background color is only visible if the Back style is solid. If the background style is transparent, the application doesn’t use this background color. |
Fore color | Displays the default or current foreground color. Click it to select another color. |
Size to fit | Select this check box if the text is to stretch or shrink to fit if the object is resized at runtime. If this is not selected, the Word wrap option applies. |
Word wrap | Select this check box if the caption or message is to continue on the next line at the beginning of a new word. If this is not selected, the caption or message continues on the next line whenever the maximum text length is reached, even if this occurs in the middle of a word or number. Word wrap only applies if Size to fit is not selected. |
Alignment | Click a button to specify how the text is to be positioned on the object. |
Back style | Select whether the object background is solid or transparent. If the background style is transparent, the contents of the text object (the actual words) appear against the background of whatever is behind the text object (that is, the display or another object). |
