Options in the Numeric Variable dialog box

The following table shows options in the
Numeric Variable
dialog box.
Options
Description
Tag
Click this to use a numeric tag as the source of the numeric variable. Type the name of a tag, or type a tag placeholder. To open the Tag browser and select a tag, click the browse button.
Literal number
Click this to enter a literal numeric string as the numeric variable. You can also use a tag placeholder as a literal numeric.
Number of digits
Select the maximum number of digits to display, up to 17 digits. The decimal point and minus sign each count as a digit.
Decimal places
Select the number of digits to appear after the decimal point.
Fill left with
Select a character to fill the left of the display with if the value at the data source contains fewer than the maximum number of digits. To omit a fill character, select None.
TIP:
The maximum number of decimals that can be displayed is five. If a number contains more than five decimal places, the fifth will be rounded.
If you select Tag, when the variable is inserted it will begin with /*N.
If you select Literal, the variable will begin with /*LN.
