Edit the property for an object

You can use the
Properties
tab of the
Property Pane
to edit a property for an object.
  • If a property is read-only, its value appears dimmed and you cannot change it.
  • If a property is write-only (for example for a password) its value will be blank, and the words
    Write-only
are added to the property's type in the description box. When you enter a value, it will be blanked out immediately, but the value will be written to the property.
To edit the property of an object:
  1. In the
    Properties
tab, click a property. If the property has a list or a dialog box associated with it, a down arrow or ellipsis is displayed in the value column.
  2. Type the new value for the property. You can also click the down arrow or ellipsis to display the list or dialog box and then choose a value.
  3. Click another cell in the grid or close the
    Property Panel
    to save the change.
    TIP:
    The Graphics editor's
    Undo
    and
    Redo
options operate on changes made in the
    Property
tab, and take effect whether or not the Property Panel is displayed or the object is selected.
    If
    Custom
is displayed in the first row of the property column, you can click the ellipsis that appears when
    Custom
is selected, to open the Properties dialog box for the object where you can also set property values.
    In the
    Properties
tab you can enter negative numbers for the positioning properties,
    Top
    and
    Left
. These properties specify where an object sits in relation to the top and left side of the display. Using negative numbers lets you define a position for an object that results in part of the object being off-screen. You cannot enter negative numbers for these properties in the
    Common
    tab of
    Properties
    dialog box for an object.
