Create a string input object

At runtime a string input object allows the operator to type a string that will be written to a tag in an external device or tag database.
To create a string input object:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the
    Graphics
    editor, select
    Objects > Numeric and String
    >
    String Input
    .
  2. Drag the mouse to draw a box the approximate size the string input object is to be.
  3. In the
    String Input Properties
dialog box, specify the tag the string value will be written to.
  4. In the
    Common
tab, set up how the object will appear at runtime.
    TIP:
Values can also be uploaded from a recipe file or a tag in an external device, to a string input object.
    If you are using the
    Continuous update
option with multiple input objects on a display, for example with a recipe, do not use the
    Discard
    input option.
