Set up and enable the use of custom website

Use the
FactoryTalk View SE
Website Setup tool to create a custom website that uses a private TCP port number on each HMI server computer connected to that FactoryTalk Directory.
TIP:
FactoryTalk releases prior to 5.00 (CPR 9) cannot use this feature.
After creating custom websites on all the HMI servers, enable the FactoryTalk Directory to use all the custom websites connected to the directory. This can be done from any computer with access to the FactoryTalk Directory, and only needs to be done once. After the custom website is enabled, the following clients connected to that FactoryTalk Directory can access the custom website:
  • FactoryTalk View Studio
    for SE (Network)
  • FactoryTalk View SE
    Server (a redundant server pair)
  • FactoryTalk View SE
    Client
  • FactoryTalk View SE
    Administration Console
To open graphic displays or other HMI project components in
FactoryTalk View SE
, Microsoft IIS and the
FactoryTalk View
default website or custom website must be running. If you create a
FactoryTalk View
SE custom website and disable it, you will not be able to open graphic displays, or other HMI project components in
FactoryTalk View
SE until you enable the custom website, or the default website.
If your network distributed application includes multiple HMI servers, all the servers in the network must be running on any of the supported operating systems.
If the custom website is enabled, restoring FactoryTalk Directory, or restoring an application and the
System
folder, will overwrite this setting. After restoring FactoryTalk Directory, or the System folder, the custom website will have to be enabled again.
