Value (local message display)

A read connection. The application reads the value of the tag at the data source and updates the local message display to show the message whose trigger value corresponds to the tag value.

If you assign an expression, the application calculates the value of the expression and updates the display to show the message whose trigger value corresponds to the expression value.
