Scaling to engineering units in output devices

Channel data values in the output tag may be in engineering units such as Kg/minute or percentage. To configure the relationship between the physical signal in volts or mA and engineering units, set the
Low
 and
High Signal
 and the
Low
 and
High Engineering
 values.
For example, if these conditions exist, configure the values using this table.
  • The valve positioner that you want to command using Percent of Stroke is on channel 3 the current signal to the positioner is 4 mA, and the valve is completely closed
  • The current signal is 20 mA and the valve is completely open

If you are using HART Field Devices, we recommend setting
High Engineering
 and
Low Engineering
 to the field device’s
Upper Range Value
 and
Lower Range Value
 so that the field device uses the same engineering units as the 1756-OF8H. If online, these values are displayed in

view.
