Advanced Network Configuration parameters

Advanced Network Configuration
includes these parameters.
The information is only available when the application is online, and there is no communication error in the device profile.
Parameter
Description
Network mode
Shows that the device profile is online to a Device Level Ring (DLR) capable device.
Network topology
Displays the current network topology as either:
  • Linear/Star, or
  • Ring
Network topology
has no value when:
  • offline
  • online and a communication error occurred
Supervisor precedence
Displays the device’s supervisor precedence or enter a value for the supervisor precedence that is in the range of 0…255.

appears shaded when:
  • offline
  • online and a communication error occurred
  • Supervisor Mode is disabled
Active ring supervisor
If the network is operating in a Ring mode, displays the IP Address or MAC Address of the active ring supervisor.

  • the network topology is not operating in a Ring mode
Active supervisor precedence
If the network is operating in a Ring mode, displays the active ring supervisor’s precedence.

Supervisor status
When the device is configured as a supervisor, displays the device’s supervisor status as:
  • Active
    (the device is the Active Ring Supervisor)
  • Backup
    (the device is the backup ring supervisor)
  • Cannot support current Beacon Interval or Timeout
    (the device cannot support either the beacon interval or timeout values of the current Active Ring Supervisor).

  • offline
  • online and a communication error occurred
  • Supervisor Mode is disabled
Supervisor mode
Display the device’s supervisor mode on the network as either:
  • Enabled, or
  • Disabled

has no value when:
  • offline
  • online and a communication error occurred
Ring Parameters
  • Beacon interval
    displays the beacon interval for the ring or enter a beacon interval for the ring in the range that is specified by the device. See the user manuals for valid ranges for this device.
    Beacon interval
    appears shaded when:
    • offline
    • online and a communication error occurred
    • Supervisor Mode is disabled
  • Beacon timeout
    displays the beacon timeout for the ring or enter a beacon timeout for the ring. The beacon timeout value must be at least 2 times the beacon interval value but not exceed 500,000.

    appears shaded when:
    • offline
    • online and a communication error occurred
    • Supervisor Mode is disabled
  • Ring protocol VLAN ID
    displays the ring protocol VLAN ID or enter a ring protocol VLAN ID in the range of 0…4094.

    appears shaded when:
    • offline
    • online and a communication error occurred
    • Supervisor Mode is disabled

If ring parameters are changed, the changes only take effect if the device is the Active Ring Supervisor after committing your modifications.
