Parameter
Description
Device type
Displays the catalog number of the device being configured.
Name
Specifies the device name.
The name must be IEC 61131 compliant. If an invalid character is entered in this field, or if the name exceeds 40 characters, the software ignores the character.
Description
Specifies the description of the device.
The description must be within 512 characters. If the description exceeds the maximum length, the software ignores any extra characters.
Channel
Specifies the channel used by the device.
Use expanded device type
Determines whether to use the expanded device type.
If
Use expanded device type
is not selected:
  • Device variables
    and
    Commands
    cannot be configured.
  • This option works with any HART Device because
    Electronic keying
    is disabled.
  • The correct HART device must be present and configured as expected.
Clearing
Use expanded device type
does not remove the saved
Expanded device type
and
Revision
values. The values are retained and are restored when
Use expanded device type
is selected again.
Expanded device type
Displays the four digit hexadecimal device type when
Use expanded device type
is selected.
Add HART EDD
Select to open the
Add HART EDD
dialog box.
Revision
Displays the device revision and software revision. The device revision is used to indicate the revision of the interface to the device.
Valid device revision values are 0-254. Values larger than 126 do not support electronic keying.
Valid software version values are 0-253.
Electronic keying
Defines the electronic keying used for the device. Electronic keying compares the device defined in the project to the installed device. If keying fails, a fault occurs.
Valid values include:
  • Exact Match
  • Compatible Module
  • Disable Keying

Connection
Displays the I/O connection to the device.
  • Data
    : Input data includes basic input from the HART device for the dynamic and device variables configured plus the configured commands.
  • PlantPAx Data
    : Input data includes data from the HART device used by PlantPAx for the four dynamic variables and semi static data. Also includes the configured device variables and commands.
