Update devices
Use
ControlFLASH Plus
to update firmware revisions on one or multiple devices.
IMPORTANT:
- ControlFLASH Plusonly updates the firmware of devices that support the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP). To update non-CIP devices, use the legacyControlFLASHtool.
- Make sure to specify the correct revision that you want to update for your device. Otherwise, an unpredictable result may occur. Check on theRockwell AutomationProduct Compatibility and Download Center or with your technical support representative if you are not sure about an update.
- To avoid an update from being interrupted, make sure that the computer is powered to run throughout the operation and is not configured to enter or manually put into sleep mode.
- Before updating a Stratix® switch, ensure that:
- You have the Stratix switch account with administrator privileges.
- The Stratix switch has Secure Shell (SSH) sessions enabled.
- The Stratix switch and the computer on which ControlFLASH Plus is installed can ping each other successfully. For example, you can't update a Stratix switch that is behind a Network Address Translation (NAT).
- Provide a writable SD card for Stratix 5400 or Stratix 5700 before an update. We recommend that the SD card is empty.
Prerequisites
- InstallFactoryTalk Linxversion 6.60.00 andFactoryTalk Services Platformversion 6.60.00.

- It's not recommended to update during a process. Before an update, choose an appropriate time after all processes can be stopped to remove the device or devices from service.
- Verify that the device or devices on the network are properly connected and that communications bandwidth is available.
