Device definition dialog box parameters

Parameter
Description
Device type
Displays the type of the device being configured.
Name
Specifies an IEC 61131 compliant device name. The name must be a unique name without any invalid characters.
Description
Specifies the device description.
Ethernet address
Specifies the IP configuration for the device. Possible options include:
  • Private network
    . Select the value from 1 to 254.
  • IP address
    . Enter a unique IP address to identify each node on the IP network.
  • Host name
    . Enter a fully qualified domain name, such as device.yourcompany.com. This option is only available for the Standard connection.
Enable Network Address Translation (NAT)
Enables the safety communications to a device addressed through NAT.
Actual device address
Specifies the device's IP address on the Private Network of the NAT. It is the same IP address found in the
Internet Protocol
view.
This parameter is available when the
Enable Network Address Translation (NAT)
checkbox is selected.
Revision
Specifies the major and minor device firmware revision level.
The major revision indicates the revision of the interface to the device. Valid values are from 1 through 127.
The minor revision indicates the firmware revision. Valid values are from 1 through 255. The default is 1.
Electronic keying
Reduces the possibility of using the wrong device in a control system. The valid values are:
  • Exact Match
  • Compatible Module
Input status
Determines the type of input status for the device. See Input data status and description for more details.
Input data
Determines the type of input connection for the device. See Input data status and description for more details.
Output data
Determines the type of output connection for the device. Valid values include:
  • None
    . No output tag is generated. No output connection is established.
  • Test
    . Output data type and tags are generated. The output data type contains tags for the standard output data.
  • Safety
    . Output data type and tags are generated. The output data type contains tags for the safety output data.
  • Combined
    . Output data type and tags are generated. The output data type contains tags for the safety output data and standard output data.
Data format
Determines the format of data exchanged between the parent and the device.
