Input Modules

Digital input modules interface to sensing devices and detect whether they are On or Off.
Digital input modules convert AC or DC On/Off signals from user devices to appropriate logic level for use within the processor. Typical input devices include the following:
  • Proximity switches
  • Limit switches
  • Selector switches
  • Float switches
  • Push button switches
When you design systems with digital input modules, consider these factors:
  • Voltage necessary for your application
  • Current leakage
  • Whether your application uses sinking or sourcing wiring
