From a standard controller to a safety controller

When changing from a standard controller to a safety controller project, the Logix Designer application creates safety components to meet the minimum requirements for a safety controller.
Possible project changes upon confirmation:
  • When changing to a GuardLogix controller, adds a safety partner to the I/O chassis.
    IMPORTANT
Keep the chassis slot immediately to the right of the safety primary controller available for the safety partner.
  • Sets the safety level to the controller's default safety level.
  • Creates safety components (a safety task, program, and routine). Creates the safety task only if reached the maximum number of downloaded tasks. Initializes the safety task with its default values.
  • Creates a time-based Safety Network Number (SNN) for each controller port that supports a CIP Safety connection. Some controllers, such as the GuardLogix 5580 and CompactLogix 5380, may have multiple safety ports.
  • Removes standard controller features that are not supported by the safety controller from the
    Controller Properties
    dialog box.
  • Sets the Locked state to its default value.
  • Sets the Lock/Unlock passwords to their default values.
  • Sets the Safety Signature to its default value.
