Generate an HMI object
Once an HMI display object has been configured, it can then be used to generate an import file for use with
FactoryTalk View
SE or FactoryTalk View
ME. This file is an Extensible Markup Language (.xml) file.To generate an HMI object file
- In theSystem Viewpane, expand theHMIfolder and the display category folder so that the objects are visible.
- Right-click the object to export.
- ForFactoryTalk Viewobjects, selectGenerate Displaysand then clickAll Displaysto create an export file that supports all display types.
- For Alarms objects, selectGenerate Alarmsand then click a specific controller from the list if this object will only be used with that type of controller or clickAll Controllersif this object will be used with all project controllers.TheSave Asdialog opens.
- Use the tree control to browse to the location in which to save the HMI object file or use the default location:C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Rockwell Automation\Application Code Manager\OutputReplace the <username> variable with your current Windows username.
- InFile name, type a name for the file or use the default file name that is created according to the following pattern:<Controller Name>_<Object Name>.xmlThe controller portion of the default file name and the underscore are omitted when theAll Controllersoption is selected. For Alarms objects, replace the variable <Controller Name> with the name of the controller selected if a specific controller was selected.FactoryTalk Viewobjects are not controller-specific.
- ClickSave. The HMI object generation is started.
- Once the process is completed, theGeneration Completestatus dialog appears, clickOKto close the dialog.
